TWO-STORY HOUSE EXPLODES
Investigators baffled as to the cause

CUPERTINO, California -- A two-story house exploded late Sunday afternoon, critically injuring one man and making mince of the apparent source of the explosion, a large atrium on the second floor.

Three others were wounded in the blast, and the house was absolutely totalled, Fire Marshall Ponca Fairfax said.

According to neighbors, the explosion occured around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 15.

"The roof went straight up and landed on the remains of the second story," witness and neighbor Doug Nilir said. "If it weren't for [the flames from the explosion], you'da thunk the house was always a single floor."

"Most explosions like this are from gas leaks," Fairfax said, "except this house didn't use gas. Not even a line into the property."

Fire officials said a fifteen-year-old girl and two nineteen-year-old boys were treated for mild to moderate burns and injuries caused by flying debris. One other boy was hospitalized for serious burns and blood loss.

Oh, that's what's missing. tophet's colour never got saved from AIM, so it's not on the list of colours to post with in preferences. I get it now.

What else am I supposed to say to be entertaining, here? It's almost a new year. Sort of disturbing prospect, actually, if you're to believe all those fanatics that say the end of the world will happen on the last day of the year...

Stupid incubus, waking me up from a perfectly good nap just so he can make me post in my journal. What's the point of that? Whaat?

Well, now that I'm up and looking at the time, I'm kind of leery as to why I wasn't up before. Ususally I'm always rather punctual about when I get up. Hmmm...

I'm sure stuff has been happening since my birthday (when I updated last), but I have no clue what it was. It obviously wasn't very interesting, then. James Tophet had their birthdays, but that sort of went over without any particular aggrivation on Alex's part to me.

James did have fun with the orange juice again, though, now that La's been stocking it in the house again. Something tells me she's going to stop doing that very, very soon.

So 'La is making me write about what happened today, because it's my birthday. Which means that I'm now officially... one? That doesn't sound right.

Anyway, I was created on May eighteenth, so I'm somewhat over a year, anyway. But apparently it's... either seventeenth, eighteenth, or nineteenth for me, depending on how fast Desert Rose gets done... though at this rate, I may as well be one.

*cough* Anyway...

Let's see. I woke up this morning and there was an incubus glued to my ceiling. Well, not glued, but somehow he had managed to get a toehold so that he was sticking to the ceiling without actually... yeah. Anyway. So he was like... six feet above me when I opened my eyes this morning, and he DROPPED down and it was... not fun.

I managed to escape Alex and shove him out of my room long enough for me to get dressed, and came out and everyone was there... and I do mean everyone. Alex, Amn, Hyd, 'La, Tophet, James, the really tall guy that Hyd occasionally has over for tea... Alex complained about me not wearing my "birthday suit" and Hyd smacked him... so something tells me I'm sort of glad I don't know what or where that is oO;;

Hydaen gave me a bottle of this really nice smelling stuff.. she said to open it and leave it on my dresser for an hour or so and it'll make my room smell neat. Amn gave me a dirty glare and a pair of knit socks (which is rather sweet, coming from her o___O;;), James gave me a polishing cloth, Hyd's friend gave me a book.. the "Kama Sutra"?, Tophet gave me a marble and instructed me to keep it incredibly safe... erm... I'm not even going to mention what Alex tried to give me -_-;

Then they took me (read: I drove and they sung songs in spanish) bowling o_O;; And then over to the Santa Clara Billiards place and they played billiards.

So... rather uneventful day, really. Except La's been muttering something about "taking it back" and "opening the room" and other things. It's quite odd.

'La made me new icons -- no, not really. She made one new icon and then coloured and shaped two of the old ones to match.

But she and I both think they're better then the last set coz' they're customized somewhat. See?

The text on all of them, if you were wondering, is my name (Shiekar) written in Sunahri (the "english" of Tanah, where my story and Flow of Destiny take place).

Well, actually, it looks like 'La wrote "Shiehar" by accident -- she forgot a line on the K. She can always change it if she wants *shrugs* Not a big thing, since nobody but who reads this is going to know.

The fact that I have two blushing icons -- BOTH caused by Alex (one with me in a school outfit a la Utena and him in James' outfit, and the one that she did this morning) -- is sort of redundant, but what are you going to do? Oo;;

*shrugs* Not much to say, beyond that. Except that you can see my door in the big picture o_O;

Edit: 'La fixed 'em, so if you didn't see it, then don't worry. If you did, you probably won't notice much of a difference *shrugs*

In other news, 'La's computer crashed, if you weren't aware. This means that all our preferences files are not here anymore, ya? So she's going through and creating them again, and making us update our journals and stuff.

So um.. happy? birthday Amn. Can you even HAVE one? I wonder sometimes if you have anything other than cynicism and scorn in that head and heart of yours --;;

'La was inspired for some.. "smut" (whatever that is. I probably don't want to know -_-) last night. She's written one sentence in Desert Rose this year. I worry. I really shouldn't say that, though, because she's worried, too, but she's already sick and tired of set-up. She wants to get to what she calls the "juice" but won't let herself write that until she writes the set-up. Which is probably why she can't seem to write anymore on her "smut" either oO; Or maybe because she hasn't eaten yet.

Maybe I'll go have James teach me how to make dutch apple pie. That sounds like fun.

Wow, it's really been a while, hasn't it? I think La has backburnered just about everything while she does her little personal hiatus thing. She can't turn us off, though, or she'd get frustratingly bored and blocked. I guess we're hardwired to her creative output, so if she turned us off, she'd turn off her ability to write and draw. I could fix it for her, but I don't really WANT to be turned off. Doesn't sound very fun, ya? Oo;

She's making me and Alex update because we have new email addresses. I guess this is so that she can eventually get rid of the yahoo account we had been using. My new address is shiek@dysdaera.net, so.. ya oO; There we go, then, I guess.

I think she's almost figured things out. She's been trying to figure out what to say and how to say what she needs to to Snow, so that's definite progress. I'm sure she'll figure it out. Hyd hopes its not too late to repair things, while James is.. what's the word, "spazzing" over the fact that if things do get paired up between them and they don't go their seperate ways, the whole thing might happen again. I think he's tired of disappearing, myself, and since he reappeared during the hiatus... eh, it's not my place to say oO;

'La doesn't seem to be working on any of her webprojects... not Bowspirit's Aim, even though it's nearly a year old, not Flow of Destiny, not the Ecks-Dee Movement, not Wings of Love, not Desert Rose.. nothing. The latter has really been pissing Amn off the deep end oO;

She hasn't been drawing much, either, which makes Alex nervous. She was totally flipping out yesterday at the children who didn't understand her subverse little signals and mindgames telling them to go away oO; Alex says that's normal, though, especially around holidays. Hyd thinks she needs to get out more, get more of a social life, and that's really saying something, coming from her.

She's been really pissy recently, and she won't even tell us why. I can't figure out if it's just because of the season change, the holiday, or that chemical imbalance coming back and nipping her in the rear.

Speaking of biting things in soft places, would someone get Janus off my back? He wants me to upgrade him with software I have no access to, with technology I'm banned from touching because of 'La's pissiness.

And while we're on the subject, 'La seems to have been mildly inspired to draw, if only to replace the two icons that aren't my default. Alex is calming down a bit, but not much. Amn's still a big fuzzy ball of angst, Janus is still harping, Hyd's being her usual stick-in-the-rear self, but at least Alex is calming down.

Who knows, maybe once 'La stops stressing over every little thing, they'll relax and let ME relax....

Well, Xella suggests that I post this stuff here because this is my journal and its about me.. so yeah. A bunch of pictures she's drawn of me, plus.. other stuff, ya? Makes sense, ya? So yeah.. she says it's common courtesy to 'Ehl Jay Cut' so people who don't want to see (hey, I understand, yaknow?) don't have to, or people with slow connections or whatever, ya? So... yeah, I guess you just click on the link that pops up to see 'em, I guess.. this is all so new, forgive me, ya?

The first one 'La drew of me.. even though at the time it wasn't me (still isn't, you can't see MY ribs o_o; scary anorexic man).. she says it ended up being a 'grown-up' version of Gavroche from Les Misérables. But you can obviously see she decided he was much too handsome to be a street urchin ^^

Nobody likes this one, let's move on.. o_O; I'm a sword-mage... sometimes called a Sword Dancer (it's similar to the Sword Dancers in Jenifer Roberson's books, so 'La's database tells me)... calling the magical powers of nature into my sword or something. I don't really know yet, ya?

Ooh look, my 'full name'. There's some relationship ties and some other crap in there, but that's not the important bit. I think this is the picture where 'La really decided on my character and backstory ^^ It also amuses her muchly for that little thing on my leg. I think it's supposed to be a little girl.
